The Chardham Yatra is one of India’s most revered spiritual pilgrimages, guiding devotees through the majestic Garhwal Himalayas to four sacred Hindu shrines: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. Known as the “Chardham” (meaning "four abodes"), these temples represent spiritual purity and divine grace.
Why the Chardham Yatra?
Every year, thousands of pilgrims embark on this soul-enriching journey to seek blessings, absolution, and inner peace. Starting from the sacred source of the Yamuna River at Yamunotri and the Ganga at Gangotri, the journey continues to the ancient Jyotirlinga of Kedarnath and concludes at the divine temple of Badrinath, dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
The Four Dhams:
🕉️ Yamunotri: The origin of River Yamuna, home to the temple of Goddess Yamuna, set amidst stunning thermal springs and alpine meadows.
🕉️ Gangotri: The sacred source of River Ganga, where devotees worship Goddess Ganga in a pristine and serene Himalayan setting.
🕉️ Kedarnath: One of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, located near the Mandakini River, surrounded by snow-capped peaks.
🕉️ Badrinath: Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, this ancient temple lies on the banks of the Alaknanda River, nestled between Nar and Narayan mountain ranges.
Best Time to Visit :
The Chardham Yatra typically runs from April/May to October/November, depending on the Hindu calendar and weather conditions. The routes remain closed during winter due to heavy snowfall.
